The Northeast Vernon County R-I School District is accepting applications for two Route Bus Drivers for the 2026–2027 school year.

Position Details

• Position: Route Bus Driver

• Starting Pay: $24.00 per hour

• Work Days: 148 days per year

• Work Hours: 5:45 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

• Location: Northeast Vernon County R-I School District

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Valid CDL with appropriate endorsements preferred (or willingness to obtain)

• Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism

• Clean driving record and ability to meet state and district transportation requirements

Responsibilities

The Route Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school and school-related activities. Duties include:

• Safely operating a school bus on assigned routes

• Transporting students in accordance with all district, state, and federal regulations

• Ensuring student safety during loading, unloading, and transit

• Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus

• Maintaining order and enforcing bus safety rules

• Reporting disciplinary concerns, safety issues, or mechanical problems

• Performing other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director or Building Principal
